2020 Aerospace Week in Review

With our 2020 Aerospace Week now behind us, we wanted to take some time to reflect on the week's events.

Kicking off the week on Monday with the Case Competition Subject Release, our VP Internal Oiphis Chan presented the topic for the competition: The Future of Urban Air Mobility. The 9 teams, totalling 40 students, then prepared presentations of their innovative ideas to solve the case, presenting on Wednesday to a panel of judges comprised of engineers from Bombardier and Bell Helicopter.

On Tuesday, a technical recruiter from Aerotek hosted a Future Career Coaching & Interview Prep session, with one-on-one advice to students looking for both internships and full-time positions.

Towards the end of the week, our VP Communications Ben Francolini hosted an Intern Panel event consisting of 5 McGill students who had worked at CAE, Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney, and McGill's Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE) program. Attendees heard about each interns' experience at their respective company, various application and interview processes, and were able to get any of their burning questions answered!

And finally, we ended the week on Friday with a tour of NRC's Aerospace Manufacturing Technology Centre!

Thank you to everyone who attended these events, to our Case Competition judges, and to the rest of the MIAE Student Executive Committee for making all these events possible!
